Wild Things

It looks like this little fellow had a double stack of antlers to carry around. It doesn't seem to bother him. I think it adds a bit more character to him as he rests up in a park in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Let me just say I wouldn't want to be in this guys shoes. The cub is so cute, but look at the face of momma bear. I think the caption should have been 'drop and run'. It is too bad the camera didn't roll on so we could have seen his expression as momma jumped over the fallen tree.
It is Monday, how did it get here so quickly? Son John left in the wee hours for a very early flight. Much too short a visit, but I am happy for the time we did share together. The weather turned out to be perfect. There was some excitement around town as it was Salmon Derby time and there were many folks around enjoying a lovely sunshine day. We heard the largest salmon caught so far was thirty-nine pounds and two ounces. The ocean was a bit choppy because of the winds but the little boats went a good ten miles out to be sure of a catch. The Port boardwalk had the white tents up and the vendors had their wares out for sale. The food vendors were more plentiful and the smells were tempting but we had our hearts set on fish and chips so went for a ride to Whaleshead. I ordered a bowl of clam chowder and it was very good. I wasn't very hungry until I got a look at the plates of clams and fish and was allowed a little finger walking during our meal. Food always seems to have a much better taste when you sample the plates of others. When we got home, John set up a special small screen and showed us the pictures he took up in Alaska, all mystical views of the majestic waterfalls and the blue ice of the glaciers. The wild life roams free and plentiful with many we have not seen in a long time. The musk ox, the white lynx, wolves and other roaming creatures I don't know the names of were enjoying the freedom of their space, along with a small cabin or two for the hardiest of souls who chose to live in the wilderness. The pictures of the 'Slope' the farthest spot near the Arctic Circle were surprising as I thought the area comprised of a few small buildings but there were many and not small at all. There is a lot of activity up there and the picture of the pipe line was something to see. The crude oil runs like a free waterfall and it made me wonder how much more can there be in our earth. How can it be never-ending? There are always more questions than answers.
So today, the start of your new week, go out and about as if you had the world by the tail. Enjoy today and make good all those promises you made yourself over the weekend. Don't forget short walks around the computer chair, hang on and lift your legs and get the circulation going, just be careful you watch to see that no one is within striking distance. Remember "Laugh and the World Laughs with you . . . Cry and your cry alone." Hugs to all.
