Son John holding a piece of ice. He will have to tell us the story on this one. His caption was that is 'was very cold'.
Here is Emma recovering from a day of hunting. Yes a quail was shot and she did try to retrieve but it wasn't as much fun as she thought it was. She had to compete with two other dogs who are already schooled in the art of retrieving dead birds. She is a Golden Retriever, her instincts are to fetch and she did pretty good for a first time although Patricia is not sure she wants her to be 'the best fetcher in town'.
The latest cartoon. Wonder how soon we will be seeing wind up toys like these. The holidays are coming, keep your eyes open.
This is one of the fish caught during the derby and did get an honorable mention but it was not the biggest fish caught. Imagine what it must have looked like if this one was not the winner . . . that's a lot of good eating.
So today, Saturday, a day off and a day to do what you want to do. I have to go out to the back gardens and clean up my messes from yesterday. I did a little more clipping or I should say tugging at the long slender leaves of a plant that wants to overrun the garden. It is really very beautiful and I had to have it, well I have news for me, it was not as beautiful once it took over and came up in three or four areas spreading out like it 'owned the joint' and delights in growing through the fence onto the private land behind us. Now if it were the bleeding heart bush that I crave to grow wild and woolly, I'd be a happy gardener but for one reason or another that bush will not stay. Hard to figure. Make today one of those unforgettable ones . . . kiss the cook, and if you don't have one, stop by I'll head for the kitchen. Hugs to all.
