Mishmash

Good morning. Here is one of Pat's pictures taken in the foothills of Gold Beach where it leads to good trout fishing. Serenity at its best. I'd like to take a walk with you along the pathway and have fresh caught trout over an open fire. A great way to start a day.
This picture came in yesterday with a write up about "Back Hawk" the fastest plane built and used to bomb the Qaddafi terrorist camp when Ronald Regan was President. It has a history to be proud of and now resides in the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D. C.

A new reminder to keep in mind that our soldiers are still 'over there' and need our support more than ever. It is good to know that some of our men and women are returning from Iraq and hopefully to receive the honor and care they deserve. Over four thousand were killed and so many more maimed and ruined for the rest of their lives. Political wars are hell on earth and no matter how much we want to 'cure' the ills of others, we cannot. There was pictures of a small boy being held down while a car was run over his arm for something he took. Woman are stoned in this day and age; unbelievable, but it is there way of life and it needs to be changed, not by us, but by themselves. It is a culture we do not understand and the internal problems will not change because we want them to. We have a lot of work to do right here at home.
It is Hump day . . . the very first day of September and "Earl" is swirling around the east coast threatening the coast line all the way up to R.I. where cousins are hunkering down for a long weekend. I remember some of the hurricanes we had when we lived in R.I. when we waited for the eye of the storm to rush out and rescue some of the things we thought we had tied down, then after the storm passed we would go out and access the damage. There was always something in need of repair but we survived the first hurricane of the year and knew there would be more as the season starts in September and plays havoc with our world.
So today, where ever you are, you can celebrate the start of a new month, thirty short days when our world changes from hot to cool and the colors of the rainbow take over and our world becomes brighter. Crisp weather, falling leaves, the children are back in school . . . aah! . . . walks on the beach before the rainy season starts; baking weather when the comfort foods are cooked; meatloaf, baked macaroni, lots of cookies and hot apple pie . . . a change of season, what could be nicer? YOU being closer would be nicer, I'd like that. Hugs to all.
