Nevada Wild Flowers
Ranch lands, miles of open space/Cattle lowing in the fields/ sagebrush, stalks thick and ancient/forbid a bud it seems/rabbit brush growing beside the mountain streams/wild flowers/all the names I do not know/ they take your breath away/as they set the fields aglow.
A purple thistle, majestic I would say/some white and yellow daisies/or at least they look that way/ the Indian paint brush is colorful to see/but what is that gorgeous flower/that stands so tall and straight/it looks like a sentinel tending Heaven's gate/ so no matter where your eye look/as springtime comes along/there are hundreds of wild flowers/right where they belong.
Genoa, a first settlement in Nevada, is in Jack's Valley where there are many large ranches. One of the casino owners owned a large ranch with a small herd of buffalo that we used to like to visit. Some of the Hollywood stars own ranches there, and up into the mountains where you followed the pass that led into Lake Tahoe. The climb is steep and the higher you go the lower the valley and the view is spectacular. Yes, I do miss Nevada and the friends who helped to make a myriad of memories of days of hard work and so many fun times. But . . . life doesn't stand still even for a minute and we have to take one day as it comes and appreciate all we do have and the folks in our lives. All these words this morning because I was looking for special pictures to put on the blog to share some thoughts with you. I have a box of pictures I wish were on the computer so I could share them with you, but they are old camera shots from a long time ago and would have to be scanned in . . . if I had a scanner.
So today, take a look in your photo albums and bring back some wonderful memories of faces and places you love. It is a fun visit and will bring a smile to your face, maybe a tear if you have some golden oldies of family and friends who have gone on before us . . . just light a candle and say a prayer for the love and laughter they bring to mind. Can you believe it is Thursday already, didn't I just say that a very short time ago? Wow . . . time flies without our even being aware of it. Better make hay while the sun shines! Hugs to all.
