I did my grocery shopping for the week, yesterday morning, and spent seventy dollars on just feeding me. Not too far back it used to cost me about twenty and that covered everything I needed for a whole week. I never thought I'd live to see coffee at $12.95 a pound and going up. I never thought I'd have to pay $12.00 for a piece of steak or almost four dollars for a loaf of bread. God help the folks with families to feed, how they do it is beyond me.
I am an apple lover and would never imagine I would pay a dollar for one apple. I bought two apples, small size, one orange, a small cantaloupe and bananas, which by the way, you run a paper towel with vinegar over the skins and make them last longer and no fruit flies . . . I left the steak behind and bought hamburger which will give me three good meals. That Philly Cheese sandwich we had for dinner last evening tasted pretty good, although I think I'd stick to the white onions in the future, the red ones are delicious but not in a Philly sandwich. So after doing all the planning and shopping I will be taking off for an overnight to Coos Bay where we will stop at Bandon for the Granny special (biscuits and gravy with a scrambled egg and sausage) then on to Coos Bay for a walk around the mall and a visit to our favorite junker stores. My refrigerator will keep all the food fresh and waiting for attention when I get back. The weather is changing and soon the rains will be teeming and the trips will be off until another season. The Mall will probably be filled with pre-Christmas items and if we are lucky we may find something to put away. Finding "Made in America" is a challenge but one to pursue. It is a challenge to try and find anything with quality anymore . . . sound like I'm griping . . . yep!
So today, the start of a new week, plan your days so that you stay organized and content until your next days off. Put some effort into doing your best and take pride in yourself in whatever project you are working on. It is amazing what you can accomplish. My friend,Marge, has turned flat beach stones into a work of art and is finding a lucrative market for them. Clever lady with a lot of talent and an eye for beauty. Put your creative genes to work and enjoy today. I'll catch up with you before the week is over. Hugs to all.
