Back Again

Even strangers can become friends. My resident deer ignore the cats that are all over this neighborhood. I have a couple that visit regularly, both deer and cats, but they do not make any attempt at friendship. The e-mail showed other pictures of the two animals roaming around playing together and snoozing in the sunshine without a care in the world. Just goes to show that it is okay to be different and learn to find a little kinship to make the day fill with love and laughter.
Now here on the boat ramp at Crescent City, there is a huge black sea lion sitting at the end of the pier. Several people walked out, almost to the end, to take its picture, but not me . . . I was afraid I would attract its attention and it would come scooting after me. Such a coward, I could have gotten a much better picture and if it had come my way, I could have taken my shillelagh stick and scared it away. There were dozens more on one of the pilings making lots of noise. How huge they are, and I might add content as they bask in the sunshine oblivious to us on shore.

Daughter Pat and I took a ride over to have fish and chips one more time before this restaurant closes for the season. They serve up some of the best fish and chips around. I thought I'd shake hands with the mermaid before I went inside. What a shock it was to find out fish and chips would not be ready for another three quarters of an hour, breakfast food was all we could have so we opted for one of their pancakes. I ordered a blueberry pancake, one of my favorite foods, and had a wake up call when the bill came in at five dollars and fifty cents for one pancake. Granted it was plate size but that is one expensive pancake even if it was delicious. A dollar and a half for a cup of coffee and we had to get our own refill . . . well, it is a good thing they are closing for the season or I'd write them off my list, maybe after the season when I next hanker for fish and chips I will go back but you can rest assured it wont be for a blueberry pancake. They must think we are all receiving a stimulus package.
So today, choose your place to eat carefully, check the menu and the prices before you order as it is amazing how many new menus are out there, and don't rush off to see the new movie, "Nanny McFee" as it is really for the little ones and not very well done, much too trite and predictable; a little overdone for my taste. I had not been to the movies in some time and I found it wasn't comfortable seating and very difficult to get up from, so . . . I'll wait for the DVD and enjoy my movies at home in the future. I just got my first lesson on how to use the new DVD player that uses the new blue rays, whatever they are. Has anyone told you that becoming and Octogenarian means Toddling Days are Here Again, well it is true as everything is new and a learning process. So you, you young whippersnappers, enjoy your new toys and remember to have patience with the old folks as it takes us a bit more time to get the 'hang' of things we are not even sure we want to learn. Better still, stop by and 'run the show' and I'll stick with what I know. Make your today a fun one. Hugs to all.
