Out and About

Today is the big day, the Art Festival starts at ten a.m. and this board walk will be covered with white tents that will spread out from the boardwalk through the entire Port area. Artisans from all over come to town to show off what they have made this past year as they prepare for this big 'to-do' held in August each year.

Pat and I will go early so we can find a parking spot and then we will meander along the boardwalk and see what we cannot live without. It is a good time to keep Christmas in mind as there is always something to put away for the upcoming holidays. I know, it is only August, but the way time flies the holidays will be here before we know it. Now that is a sobering thought. Most folks are interested in school shopping but this affair is not for that. The shoe store is going out of business 'again' and they have a sale going on. It is always a big disappointment as they tout a closing price of 75% off but when you get there it is only the shoes on two racks that you wouldn't wear if they were giving them away. Inside the inventory is 10% off, so I'm thinking they can keep their inventory. It really is sad as it is the only shoe store in town. Fred Meyers does have a shoe department but not my size., so maybe catalogs will get our business or trips two and a half hours away, north or south, or we all wear sneakers and start a fashion trend. I wonder if I can find some with little lights to show me where to step in the dark? Um . . . now that sounds like a good idea.

Here is Bob the Lavender Farm hero Pat was lucky to catch on camera as he spread his feathers in her honor. I stood there for fifteen minutes whispering sweet nothings in his ear and he ignored me, didn't ruffle one feather, just walked around eyeing the strange creatures watching him. I wonder if he thought our bright summer clothing were our 'feathers' and he waited patiently for us to 'preen' before he would show his true colors. I'll have to read up on the peacocks and find out what it is that excites them to show off all of their beautiful colors.

So today, I hope there is an Art Festival in your area that you can walk around and enjoy the work of the talented artisans who work all year to produce beautiful jewelry and paintings, ceramics and carvings to sooth your artistic nature. I'll let you know If I find anything. It is Saturday, a day to sleep in and relax . . . enjoy! Hugs to all.
