About a Land Whale and Musing in the Wee Hours

Back in 1993 there was an article written in an Old Car magazine, about the Ford House Car, six were made in the 1930's at the Ford plant in St. Paul Minnesota. One now resides in the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan, a 1920 Model T conversion. Just think how this model would look at the Hot August Nights held in Reno, Nevada every year. They have some old time show piece cars of every kind, but I've never seen one of these in the years I attended the wonderful string of cars being driven in a parade down the main street of Reno.
The Ford House Car was discovered in a garage in August of 2001. It has 19,000 miles showing and the owner's manual is still in the glove box. The article I read, last evening, mentioned the owner traveled to Florida and to the North Woods. It is all wood, built in 1937, and has a 60 horsepower V8 engine. Solid Oak, metal skins and the four windows open, even the windshield tilts to let in air while camping.
A marvel in its day and just think about how the Land Whales of today are. We have hundreds of them right now parked at the Port and other RV parks throughout our area. The Chetco river is a favorite spot. We are always happy to see them come to enjoy the ocean, the Charter fishing and the coolness we have been blessed with. We are also happy to see them leave as it gives us back our little town and we can get around without fighting heavy traffic. Summer is half over, we are already into mid August and soon Labor Day will be here and the children will be back in school and the visitors will be back to their homes having enjoyed a memorable vacation on the coast of Oregon.

I woke up at three a.m. and thought to go right back to sleep, but at 3:33 a.m. I was still tossing and turning and my mind was churning with all kinds of thoughts about people . . . people who are so caught up in their own world they forget to balance out. We all know one or two and yearn for a relationship with them, but their heart and mind are on a single path of selfishness. My first thought is to shake some common sense into them, but it is not mine to do. I can only be patient and hope one day they will wake up and share some time and energy with those who love them. Philosophical at three, three, three . . . well it is better than a bad dream.
So today, Thursday all day, one day closer to a weekend I hope you have planned to give some time and energy to someone you love and share yourself whole heartily so you can build beautiful memories together. So break loose from the 'poor me' syndrome, if that is what you have been feeling this week, and share the wonderful you with those you love. Hugs to all.
