Seals lolly gagging in the sunshine and the colorful Puffins had the same idea.
One of the many glaciers. I believe this one is in Seward and the ice is blue. They have trails leading up into the glacier.
A whale enjoying peace and quiet and finally shows its tail. I've been whale watching ever since I moved to Brookings and twice a year we sit patiently and watch the spouts hoping a whale will breech and show us its tail. So far we have seen plenty of spouts and one day we actually saw two whales close in at the Port where they were playing and sunshine glanced off of their bodies but they didn't breech or show their tales. I guess they wait until they get home to Alaska.
My son John is an adventurer and his job has taken him into the city of Anchorage, Alaska. He tells me there are salmon swimming in the river by his apartment and I know a few fishermen who would love an invitation to fish there, although the Rogue River in Gold Beach has had as many as seventy boats out floating around with die hard fishermen who want to catch their quota, but imagine having them at your back door. He has been wandering about getting familiar with a few of the small villages within driving distance on the weekends and he has made two trips to Dinali National Park where he took some of the pictures. I'm impressed as he took his camera and used it. He is notorious for having his camera with him but not using it. This time he has outdone himself and I am enjoying the sights of one of our most beautiful States. I wish I had the stories to tell to go with the pictures, just imagine the tales to be told of the different villages and the people. No wonder Jack London told such wonderful stories.
So today, when you are starting a new week think about how many beautiful pictures you can take of your area and send them on so I can post them, or better still, start a blog and post them yourself. I'll tune in. Make a difference today and smile. Hugs to all.
