My friend Bob sent along the pictures and story of the B-17. I get a big kick out of his story telling as he was,and still is,as interested in planes today as he was some sixty five years ago. He helped to build the planes that went off to save our world in what was hoped to be a war to end all wars. He sent along the story of the closing of the Boeing historic Plant II where thousands of the B-17 were manufactured. During the war the entire plant was camouflaged to look like a regular residential area in case of enemy attack. It makes me wonder if a new plant will be built to manufacture a new type of 'flying machine', and if so, what will it be like, and will it accomplish what the old B-17 did. The men painted their favorite picture on the side of the plane, remember Betty Grable and her million dollar legs, that was a favorite. I wonder if there were any write ups in the big newspapers across the country. There certainly wasn't any mention of it in our little town paper that comes out twice a week. We are lucky to know that there are people outside of our little community, but, the computer is up and running and the e mails are flowing back and forth with copies of interesting events going on in our world. Instant news, instant messages, how fast the world news enters our space.
October seems to be a good birthday month as a couple of friends celebrated their special day. Jock says he is twenty-seven 'again' and came in to see a movie and Pat cooked up some ling cod. In Rhode Island, Jimmy, a Sullivan cousin twice or three times removed, celebrated his birthday surrounded by those he loves. I saw in one of the pictures that there was a little kissing going on, missed again, I should have hopped a plane and joined the fun. Just goes to show you birthdays are special and should be celebrated. Later in the month I will light a candle for my daughter Eileen who was born on Pa's birthday . . . October 22nd . . . both stars in our sky. I love birthdays especially since I am entering my second childhood and can kick up my heels as I don't remember the first one . . . who is that lady in the red hat slurping dry martinis at her age. . . it wasn't me...I was home editing my new Short Stories which should be out soon. If you are in the mood for a Jean M. Sullivan read let me know as Joann is getting them ready to market.
So today, TGIF, another week has passed into eternity and there is no getting it back. I hope you used your time wisely and had fun doing it. As for me it was a quiet week and I did accomplish what I set out to do. Editing is a selfish task as it takes up a lot of time and as a writer I should have gotten it 'perfect' the first time around . . . yeah! Now you tell one. Be good to yourself, you deserve it. Hugs to all.
P.S. I received some interesting information this morning and had I looked closely at my own calendar I would have noticed that there are five Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in this month...think of the weekends you will have free....it happens every 823 years according to the Chinese Feng Shui. Someone said it may mean money coming in and you had better pay attention as another article I read this morning said that Lui Xiaobo won the Nobel Peace Prize and he is a dissident imprisoned because he used non violence to demand fundamental human rights in his homeland. So keep a look out and hopefully a few shekels will come your way.
