Oops and Street Art

This is a once in a lifetime picture taken in Katlian Bay, Sitka, Alaska when the local dentist, Richard Kraft, took himself out for a kayak ride. A whale surfaced to scoop up a mouthful of herring. . . talk about never the twain should meet . . . that is the whale's open mouth you are looking at and Dr. Kraft said, "All I could think of at the time was to paddle really fast." I bet his arms went like a windmill. I'd like to know what the whale was thinking.

Here in Brookings we had a visit from huge beautiful and painted bears a year or so ago, in fact I think there are one or two around this year on motorcycles. I'll have to take a look today when I go out, and I'll take my camera just in case they have arrived. These pictures were taken in Victoria, British Columbia for their "Orcas in the city" and were done by Peter Karas and Corrine Garlick, two talented artists. As you can tell, by now, I love art of all kinds and delight in showing you what I find as I look to see what is out there in our big world. I'd like to be walking the streets of Vancouver and seeing all of this art up close and personal or have a plane ticket to go and visit other cities where art is displayed for the pure pleasure of the folks that live there.

As I said there is all kinds of art and this particular type sets me into gales of laughter. Maxine always has choice words of wonder and advice and pokes fun at all of us. She is taking on 'consultants' today . . . um . . . I know one or two of them I can send this to and maybe keep them on a level playing field for the day. Cartoons keep us human and hopefully develops our sense of humor.
So today, be of good cheer it is the very first day of October and it is Friday to boot. I am sure you are smiling and getting ready to clear up all the last minute projects so you can be free for your upcoming weekend. Hopefully the weather is cooperating. Back East there is another huge storm going up the coast line leaving drenching rain in its wake. Here we are vacillating between hot and cool, pneumonia weather as you don't know whether to wear a sweater, a heavy jacket or go out sleeveless. Well, I can tell you the fog rolls in and solves the problem, it is sweater weather. Go for a walk, stretch your limbs and your mind and smile just because you can. Hugs to all.
