Lone Ranch Beach is one of my favorites and I have taken you there before, spring I think, when the pathways were strewed with colorful plants just budding and showing color. Today, the weather is iffy, wants to rain, yet it doesn't. The pathway runs from the top of the parking lot, around a long curve of forest. As you approach the circle you can hear the roar of the ocean and today it is wild. One huge wave after the other breaking over the rocks. I met a couple walking along and exchanged a few words.
Along the path way there are still blooming plants. One plant is garden variety and I have no idea how it got out in the wilds, probably a bird?, it has velvet leaves and I think it is called "Lamb's ear". I used to have one in my garden box in Nevada. I have no idea what this one is called but it looks like it wants to have winter blooms.
Winter is coming as there are so many dead leaves and some downed trees with broken limbs laying on the ground, felled and shattered by the winds.
The wild berry bushes are in bloom and the berries are coming. It looks like a banner crop this year. The berries are huge, black and tasty. I might try and talk Pat into picking some this year. I wouldn't mind making a pie.
This is the start of a trail but I didn't go in and walk on its path as it was wet and slippery. It looked eerie and dark and I wasn't sure the picture would come out, but it did, and that made me feel pretty good as I got to see the bridge and the river running out to the sea.
When we got to the parking lot there was this little squirrel and there are signs that tell you not to feed them and not to pet them. I had no idea there were so many as three of four more came out of the bushes nearby and were quite aggressive. I decided to get into the car and not take a chance of getting bitten. They could be rabid. Cute little guys though. One man had his camera ready to shoot pictures of them but when they all headed towards him he turned and ran away. Smart man.
This was the first beach we stopped at and it was such a treat as the tide was incoming and the skies were magnificent. We stopped at Harris Beach before going home and I have a few more pictures I took there . . . I'll show them to you tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Monday is here. The garbage trucks are on the street making lots of noise. The sun is trying to come out and it looks like we are in for a really nice day. Laundry, kitchen floors await and by noon Pat should be over and I'll either make her a tuna salad sandwich in, or maybe a tuna salad would be better . . . or, fish tacos out would be just as tasty and a lot less work. Have a 'promise' day when you promise yourself you will be the best you can be and do it. Hugs to all.
