I'm puzzled.

OOPS, the picture is sideways . . . not my morning I tell you.

I started the fall season off by clearing off the dining room table and putting out a five hundred piece colorful puzzle of fish. It was a 'doozy', hard to do with its different sizes and shapes but within a three day period, and with daughter Pat helping, it was finished. Now why this puzzle became an enigma is a puzzle in itself as I took a picture of it but it will not print out, why I have no idea, but after several tries this morning I gave up.

After finishing the fish picture puzzle I thought I'd give it a rest, but the weather turned and it seemed strange and lonely not to have a jig saw puzzle on the table so out came this one of the birds, a thousand pieces and it is pastel so the colors blend and it seemed impossible . . . only took a week . . . but, it is done and it was almost impossible to do as we swore that we were out of our minds for trying to finish it . . . we did and when that last piece went in a bit of pride and satisfaction went in with it. Now we have to go puzzle shopping at the thrift stores and hope all the pieces are there.

This morning the table is back to normal, although there is a little Harvest Bear holding an ear of corn sitting on the candle dish. I bought him at the doctor's office the other day when I went for my check up as they sell all kinds of little stuffed animals dressed up for the up coming holidays
a few play music. It is for the cancer fund. I didn't think about it or I would have taken a picture to show you.

While we were out yesterday we rode over to the Indian House where they were holding a yard sale and selling Indian fry bread as a base for a taco. I had not had Indian Fry bread since my visit to Arizona some years back so it was quite a treat to have home made fry bread topped with delicious taco makings. It really was tasty but so big I couldn't eat it all. There was only one other couple there, sad as they had set the tables up and everything was marked and ready for sale. We bought a couple of 'pity' buys and I got a huge table book on World War II that was published in 1946 all in pictures. Talk about instant memories. It is not in the best of condition but it is in what I would call 'good' condition for its age. They really didn't have many books and the others that I did look over I had either read or was not interested in their content.

The boats were out in the harbor again yesterday, even more than the day before as the ocean was flat and fish-able. Pat was gifted a huge ling cod and brought it over for me to cook for our dinner. It was delicious and I baked it along with some 'jean' scalloped potatoes. I like to experiment and sometimes I do come up with a decent dish to tempt the palet, or is it because I don't want to use every pot and pan that I have mastered the one dish side dish. I put layers of red potatoes, onions, mushrooms, tiny bits of zucchini and my Colby cheese together with some flour, salt, pepper and covered it with milk. I have to brag a bit as it was very delicious. Wow, two days in a row of coming up with a successful 'jean' dish, my children will never believe it as they used to sigh loudly when they asked what was for dinner and I would tell them a 'jean' dish.

So today, a fast moving Sunday, a last chance to rest up for the new week. I was reading some quotes yesterday and one caught my eye . . . "The Bad news is time flies. The good news is you're the pilot." (Michael Altshuler). So be a responsible pilot and make good use of your time. I'm off to shop for the week. Wonder what I can find to make some new 'jean' dishes this week. If your close by, stop in and give our taste buds a treat. Hugs to all.
